Coinciding with the country’s National Day, the 2nd of December marks the celebration of World Future Day, which is adjusted the previous year by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in an initiative that shows the international recognition of the country as a role model in shaping the future and the major status it has gained more than previous 50 years.
World futures day sets the target to increase awareness of the significance of futuristic mindsets adjusted by nations to make for future possibilities and difficulties. This further looks to increase international collaboration in making a good tomorrow for future generations.
The UAE is pursuing a journey towards the future, guided by the transparent and confident desire of its leadership, embodied in the statement of president His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who stated that – “The country is striding towards the future, decided to excel in several sectors and to make a good future, and the desire of Vice President to evolve future readiness in government work and turning it into a catalyst for evolving proactive resolutions and creating the essential equipment to ensure the future begins today.”
The inauguration of the “We the UAE 2031” desire throughout the country’s government annual meetings further pinpoints these directions, making the progress of the country towards a more complete future, in which all government units collaborate within a unified ecosystem.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future, said that under the leadership of the president and the desire and directions of the President, the UAE handled change the approach of design and forming the future to a formed culture and incorporated work ecosystem centered over the theme “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, create it, and implement it.”
He added that World Futures Day, which coincides with the country’s celebration of its national day, embodies the country’s belief that shaping the future is an international mission that relies on incorporating actions to make a good future and make possibilities for the recent and future generations.
Al Roumi highlighted that the country has changed the desire of making the future into a set of possibilities and regular lifestyle in which everybody takes part and enjoys positive results in all sectors.
She stressed that this request has protected the country’s status as a pioneering model in readiness and proactivity, and a prime contributor to creating a good future.
The country’s desire is a national-incorporated schedule for making the future of the country within the next decade and more than the next 50, towards the country’s centennial 2071.
This concentrates on four major pillars that cover all sectors, comprising the economy, ecosystem, society, and diplomacy, looking to increase the status of the country as an international partner and a lucrative and influential economic center.
In addition, this sets a target to highlight the successful economic model of the country and the possibilities it gives to all international partners.
UNESCO’s adoption of 2d December as the world futures day targets to enhance long-run resilience through future and anticipatory approaches, comprising strategic foresight increasing future readiness and proactive policymaking to get stable evolvement for future generations.
The declaration of world futures day came unanimously within the results of the 41st session of UNESCO, which was possessed in November 2021 in Paris. This shows UNESCO’s actions to increase nation’s readiness for the future, evolve new equipment to increase the international actions targeting to increase awareness on the significance of future readiness, and make nations capable to leverage this equipment to make the future and evolve new resolutions that drive evolvement and boost global efforts to welcome creativity.
