DEWA Partners with RTA to Enhance the Transition to Green Economy

RTA has signed an agreement to become the Platinum Sponsor of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) for the next three sessions, from 2023 to 2025. The WGES is organized by the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), DEWA, and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. This partnership reinforces the joint commitment of DEWA and RTA toward promoting the transition to a green economy and enhancing Dubai’s standing as a global hub for sustainability.

The summit has served as a strategic platform for promoting international collaboration to tackle global challenges, promote sustainable growth and acquisitions in the green economy, and foster the adoption of adequate guidelines, schedules, and industries in this field.

Additionally, the summit provides a forum to address critical problems, comprising climate shift and global warming, and supports aligning energy approaches with the Sustainable Development Goals. It facilitates the exchange of successful sustainability strategies, systems, and policies and leverages opportunities to support the transition to a green economy. RTA has launched several initiatives to promote energy and the green economy, such as fully converting taxis to eco-friendly vehicles (hybrid, electric, and hydrogen-powered) by 2027.

This step is part of a comprehensive master plan to reduce carbon emissions in taxis, which aligns with the requirements of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and supports the transition to a green economy. In addition, RTA is planning to operate the Air Taxi by 2026, which will facilitate safe, smooth, and sustainable transportation for individuals integrated with Dubai’s public transportation network.” added HE Matter Al Tayer.
