Dubai, the UAE’s glittering emirate, has issued a new public health law. With a vision to strengthen public health, environmental security, and disease prevention, the law was issued under the order of the emirate’s current ruler, Prime Minister and Vice President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Law No. (5), the new health regulation Dubai 2025, is formed to raise food and product safety requirements, encourage sustainable practices to improve quality of life, and reinforce health standards, developing a complete framework to protect the community. Also, the Dubai public health law aims to strengthen the emirate’s reputation as a global leader in the public healthcare sector.
Traveling to Dubai? New Public Health Law Imposes Restrictions
The newly established Dubai public health law has imposed strict restrictions on travelers verified with communicable diseases. The restriction on travel for such travelers aims to reduce health risks by preventing the spread of infections from individuals with communicable diseases. This law is to become active 90 days after publishing in the Official Gazette, and it will displace any previous law that may violate its guidelines.
According to the new Public Health Law, all travelers visiting Dubai must comply with the official health protocols, coordinate at the entry points by providing requested information, and report to authorities about any suspected or verified communicable disease case. This law mandates a range of evidence-based and preventive measures that comply with national and international health standards.

Travelers suspected or infected with communicable diseases must prevent the illness from spreading by avoiding contact with others. Also, the new Public Health law has restricted traveling or moving of such travelers, except to healthcare facilities, without the Dubai Health Authority’s approval. If you’re infected or feeling unwell while traveling, you must follow hygiene measures under the approved guidelines, like wearing masks and maintaining physical distance.
Dubai New Public Health Law: Who’s in Charge?
To guarantee and strengthen the emirate’s readiness to deal with any public health challenge, the new Public Health Law encourages more cooperation and coordination. By creating a sustainable environment that attracts investment, Dubai’s public health law also focuses on improving awareness among the public about health risks and their preventive measures.
The roles and responsibilities of the authorities in preventing communicable diseases and other guidelines under the new health law have been formally defined. The local government authorities who are given charge to oversee the proper implementation and compliance of Dubai’s public health law include Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Academic Health Corporation, and Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority.
The new legislation has also outlined the duties of the relevant authorities for food safety, established guidelines for consumer product operations, and specified rules for food-related establishments. This law also has detailed duties in areas such as labor accommodations, pest control, constructed environment health, and the Dubai Health Authority’s role in handling crises, emergencies, and health risks. Travelers who will not adhere to the new Dubai Public Health Law will have to face severe consequences that they have ever imagined.
