Dubai: On April 6, 2025, the RTA made a significant announcement that showcased Dubai’s consistent efforts to improve connectivity and serve rapid urban growth. On Sunday, the authority announced that an eight-lane bridge Dubai will be constructed under the initiatives to enhance connectivity and ease traffic in areas around Deira and Bur Dubai.
A Closer Look at the Eight-Lane Bridge Dubai
This Dubai Creek bridge project is part of one of RTA’s most strategic and innovative infrastructure initiatives, Al Shindagha Corridor Development. Designed with four lanes both ways, this new bridge Dubai will be approximately 1,425 meters long. RTA Dubai announces that this bridge can manage 16,000 vehicles per hour.
The eight-lane bridge will be constructed between the existing Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid zone. It will provide a 75-meter-wide navigational channel, as it will be elevated 18.5 meters above the Creek, which is structured to ensure smooth clearance of marine traffic.
Apart from ensuring quick clearance of vehicle congestion, this bridge project will support urban expansion as it will feature dedicated pedestrian and cycling tracks with elevators on both ends. Additionally, this new structure under the Dubai Creek bridge project will feature 2,000 meters of surface roads to enhance connectivity across the existing Bur Dubai and Dubai Islands networks.

Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands in Minutes with New Bridge Dubai
RTA Dubai recently announced the eight-lane bridge development, which is a key component of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development project, which has an extensive expansion of 13 km and features 15 intersections. Deira, Dubai Islands, Deira Waterfront, Port Rashid, Dubai Maritime, and Bur Dubai are some popular and significant areas that will be covered under the Corridor project.
RTA’s Director General and Board of Executive Directors Chairman, Mattar Al Tayer, said that around 1 million people will benefit from this project. Additionally, the corridor project development will enhance connectivity by reducing the travel time from 104 to just 16 minutes, projected to generate around AED 45 billion in savings in 20 years.
He further said that RTA and Dubai Holding had previously worked together on a project in 2020 that involved the construction of three bridges that spanned over 1.6 kilometers. Further explaining, he said this project included a two-lane bridge that eases traffic movement from the Dubai Islands to Al Khaleej Street northward, a three-lane bridge for unblocked traffic flow from Dubai Islands to Al Khaleej Street southward, and a two-lane bridge guaranteeing smooth traffic flow from Al Khaleej Street southward to Dubai Islands.
15 Areas Under New Bridge Dubai Project
A contract worth AED 786 million has been assigned by RTA Dubai to Dubai Holding to initiate the project construction. This eight-lane bridge project also falls under the wider AED 6-billion traffic solutions agreement signed between the transport authority and the global investment company. The 15 areas that will be upgraded under this latest infrastructure development project are the Dubai Islands, Al Furjan, Arjan, JVT, Liwan (Phase 1), Villanova, Serena, Palm Beach Towers, Majan, Nad Al Hamar, and Jumeirah Park.
The Dubai Creek bridge project will also introduce improvements in these five zones:
1. JVC: Here, 4 new entry and exit points and flyovers of double capacity to the existing one will be developed to reduce travel time by 70%.
2. Dubai Production City: To reduce travel time by 50%, new bridges from SZR will be developed.
3. Business Bay: To reduce internal road congestion by 30%, there will be some upgrades on interchanges and a walkway bridge at the Al Khail Road connection point.
4. Palm Jumeirah: To improve travel efficiency and reduce travel time by 40%, two new pedestrian bridges and acceleration/deceleration lanes will be constructed.
5. Dubai International City (Phase 3): To reduce travel time from 15 to just 5 minutes, new lanes, widened entrances, and upgraded entrances from Al Manama Street will be constructed.
Dubai Holding CEO Amit Kaushal stated that this initiative will significantly improve connectivity to Dubai Islands and will guarantee smoother travel for residents and visitors.
