Ducab Group Marks 44 Years of Leading Excellence and International Growth in the Energy Industry

Positioning itself as a prominent end-to-end energy solutions provider and manufacturing powerhouse in the United Arab Emirates, Ducab Group joyously commemorates its 44th anniversary. Reflecting on over four decades of significant milestones, Ducab Group stands as a trailblazer in the energy sector, fostering enduring connections within the communities, cities, and industries it diligently serves.

Established in 1979 through a collaborative effort between the Dubai Government and the UK-based British Insulated Callender’s Cables (BICC) Group, the oldest cable company globally, Ducab has undergone a remarkable evolution as a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence.

Undergoing a significant transformation into a 100% UAE-owned entity in 2001, jointly owned by the governments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Ducab has consistently broadened its presence. With six strategic locations strategically positioned across the country, Ducab has emerged as a leading champion in the industry.

Each inauguration of a key facility has paved the way for the next, beginning with Mussafah 1 in 2005, followed by the copper rod plant in 2008 and the metals facility in 2018. In 2020, Ducab marked a significant milestone with the introduction of Ducab Metals Business (DMB), distinguishing itself as the region’s sole copper and aluminum solutions provider.

In addition, Ducab has solidified its position as a premier global provider of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable energy solutions. Catering to customers in the national, regional, and international energy sectors, the Group has achieved a remarkable global reach. From its inaugural international sale in the late 1970s, Ducab now exports 60% of its products to over 55 markets spanning the Gulf, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. This global footprint contributes over USD 1 billion to the UAE’s total international trade volume.

Mohammad Almutawa, Ducab’s Group CEO, emphasized, “The remarkable journey of Ducab over the last 44 years is a source of tremendous pride for us — yet, it signifies only the commencement of our endeavors.”

“As we commemorate this significant milestone, we take a moment to contemplate the robust partnerships we’ve cultivated, the obstacles we’ve surmounted, and the lasting impact we’ve imparted on our industry and community. Our enduring track record is also indicative of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, a principle ingrained in our efforts and acknowledged through the Group’s inaugural sustainability award 25 years ago.”

“Ducab transcends being merely a company; it is a thriving community,” Almutawa emphasized.

In 2023, Ducab achieved a significant milestone in enhancing its global footprint. The Group strategically designated Bengaluru, India, as a new home market, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its presence worldwide. This strategic move was facilitated by the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and India in 2022. Aligning with the UAE Government’s key priorities for 2023, the CEPA focuses on ‘Expanding the UAE’s International Economic Partnerships.’

This year marked another significant milestone for Ducab with the announcement of the groundbreaking Blade project. The ‘Factory of the Future Project’ is a revolutionary initiative harnessing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to enhance operational efficiency and address consumer and market demands more effectively. The project’s objective is to integrate Industry 4.0 technological advancements, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, into the core operations of Ducab.

Ducab’s recent venture into Angola marks a strategic move to contribute to the development of the country’s electrical and communications infrastructure over the next two years. The Group solidified this commitment by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the renowned Moroccan engineering firm, Somagec Group. This collaboration extends Ducab’s product supply to a total of 15 African countries, emphasizing its dedication to advancing technological and infrastructural growth across the continent.

Beyond geographical expansions, Ducab is at the forefront of industry evolution through innovative initiatives. The Group’s proactive approach and groundbreaking projects showcase its leadership in shaping the future of the energy sector. As Ducab celebrates its 44th anniversary, the milestone serves not only as a reflection of its rich history but also as a testament to its ongoing impact and influence.

The celebration transcends mere reminiscence; it symbolizes Ducab’s commitment to building enduring connections. These connections extend beyond geographical boundaries, encompassing partnerships, collaborations, and a network of industry relationships that contribute to Ducab’s continued growth and influence. The Group’s dedication to innovation is evident in its championing of cutting-edge technologies, making Ducab a driving force in shaping the landscape of the energy industry.

Moreover, Ducab’s 44-year journey is an affirmation of its commitment to sustainability. This commitment, embedded in the Group’s ethos, garnered Ducab its first sustainability award 25 years ago. As Ducab looks toward the future, sustainability remains a core principle, and the legacy being built extends beyond immediate achievements to leave a lasting impact on the industry and the environment.
