Abu Dhabi: In the final days of the holy month of Ramadan, UAE residents are offered free bus services to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to ensure a smoother worshipping experience. On March 20, 2025, AD Mobility, the responsible authority for ensuring safe, sustainable, and smart transport via land, air, and sea made this announcement.
The associated body of the Department of Municipalities and Transport announced this on Thursday and said that 10 free buses will be operated for the remaining days of the holy month of Ramadan between Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Al Rabdan area’s Bus Interchange to ensure smooth and safe transport for the worshippers. This initiative was announced to ensure uninterrupted movement and reduce traffic congestion around the mosque, particularly during Taraweeh and late-night prayers in the final days of Ramadan.
AD Mobility Facilities to Enhance Worshippers’ Experience
In addition to announcing the start of free bus service to the Grand Mosque, the authority has said that monitoring in the signal-controlled intersections and roads surrounding the mosque will be strengthened using digital surveillance cameras. The prime reasons for announcing these facilities are to avoid issues like traffic congestion, optimize traffic flow, and enable instant response to emergencies.
Additionally, the authority has provided mobile electronic signs to assist worshippers in easily locating designated parking areas. Also, directional messages on VMS will be activated to assist road users by providing information about the best available routes.
To ensure the proper implementation of these initiatives or facilities, the authority has deployed field inspectors at traffic signals and intersections surrounding the Grand Mosque. The field inspectors will be responsible for facilitating smooth traffic flow and quickly addressing any issues faced by road users during prayer times. Additional facilities announced include vehicle towing and Road Service Patrol services. Also, the vigilance around the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque will be intensified to ensure instant clearance of traffic congestion. AD Mobility has made all these efforts to ensure safer and smoother traffic flow, contributing to an enhanced experience for worshippers during the final days of Ramadan.
In addition to activating 10 free bus services for the Grand Mosque route, the authority has announced the allotment of 100 taxis per day during the final days of this holy month, as the demand for public transport services to the Grand Mosque route has remarkably increased. It is anticipated that the increased number of taxi services during the last 10 Ramadan days will assist worshippers to secure and improve the worshiping experience.
