The Ministry of Education will organize the first edition of the Future Education Forum Under the theme “Foreseeing the Future of Education” on Tuesday, February 14.
The platform is being organized as part of MOE’s involvement in the WGS2023, which is being organized under the directives of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum from 13-15 February under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.”
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, emphasized the crucial part of WGS in making a good future for nations and societies, as it gets together elite leaders, professionals, officials, and technicians to a worldwide forum to exchange specialization and experiences and explore means of enhancing different spots of government work.
He noted that comprising “Prioritizing Learning and Work” in the six major themes of WGS2023 shows the significance of emphasizing education as the major engine for making a more successful future. This also repeats the UAE’s administration in predicting and making the future of education.
Dr. Al Falasi Stated – “The Ministry of Education performs as per the administration’s orders to evolve a leading and top-class educational system depending on the current global methods. It is for formed future leaders who can hold the nation’s march toward wider and stable evolvement, and, hence, support powering the country’s management and international competitiveness in the sector of education.
Starting the Future Education Forum through WGS2023 presents the ministry’s administration in the education industry, as this will get together professionals, technicians, and decision-makers to discuss the future of the industry and mechanisms for its evolvement.”
The platform will discuss 3 major spots, comprising enhancing the education system, making the investment in workforces, and the well-being of educators able of making tomorrow’s generations, along with deploying technology as a major tool for developing an educational system that goes beyond the conventional concepts and forms on advanced technologies like artificial intelligence.
6 Sessions would be organized throughout the platform, the first, titled the “Future of Higher Education and Lifelong Learning”, targets redesigning the education strategy to be concentrated on the aptitudes required for the future of work and to apply technological and pedagogical creation to place trainees at the hub of learning during all phases of life. Dr. Abdellatif Miraoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in the Kingdom of Morocco, Anant Agarwal, CEO of Edx, Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera, Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University, and Sebastian Thrun, Co-founder and CEO of Udacity, will participate in the session.
The 2nd-panel conversation titled “Future of Assessment in ECE and K-12”, will predict the future of evaluating the education system and personal skills by incorporating modern technologies and big data. Her Excellency Sarah Musallam, Minister of State for Early Childhood Education, Amit Sevak, CEO of ETS, Hadi Partovi, CEO of Code.org, and Janet Godwin, CEO of ACT, will participate in the panel discussion.
In the 3rd panel conversation, titled “The role of tech companies in shaping the future of education”, participants would recognize prospects to use and adjust new technologies in education and comprehend the role tech corporations play in supporting more inclusive and skills-based learning. Dr. Robert A. Brown, President of Boston University, Clayton Naidoo, Senior Director of Country Digital Acceleration at Cisco, Mark East, Global General Manager for Education at Microsoft, and Marc Sanz Lopez, Head of Google for Education, will involve in the conversation.
The fourth-panel discussion, titled “Edtech Start-Ups: Investments and Trends”, will delve into the future of the edtech industry as a sub-sector of the education investment landscape. This panel will explore investment trends and the role of edtech in closing the skills gap and shaping the future of education. The panelists include Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Syrian Minister of Education, Rabih Khory, Managing Director of MEVP, Philip Bahoshy, Founder and CEO of MAGNiTT, Bader Ward, Co-Founder and CEO of Lamsa, and Fares Samara, Co-Founder and CTO of Ostaz.
In the panel discussion titled “Preparing and Empowering the Education Workforce”, the participants will discuss the necessary investments and changes to ensure that teachers have the necessary skills, tools, and resources to enhance educational outcomes. The panelists include Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director at the World Economic Forum, Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of Alghurair Foundation, and Anna Molero, Chief Government Officer at Teach for All.
The sixth-panel discussion, organized by the Ministry of Education in partnership with The Digital School, an initiative under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, will delve into the concept of digital schools. The discussion will explore the application models of digital schools and their impact on society through the adoption of digital or hybrid learning. The panelists include Huda AlHashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, Dr. Reda Hegazy, the Egyptian Minister of Education, and Dr. Walid, a consultant with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
The World Government Summit 2023, held in Dubai, will cover six main themes through more than 110 sessions and forums. The summit will bring together over 10,000 government officials and international experts from over 140 countries and 80 international, regional, and governmental organizations.
