The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has rolled out a series of innovative features and services aimed at improving digital mobility, ensuring efficient operations, and enhancing resident satisfaction.

As part of its ongoing digital transformation drive, the RTA has automated the issuance of permits for supplementary signboards, making this service easily accessible through its website. This initiative is part of RTA’s commitment to providing customers with convenient and intelligent services that are available round the clock.

Leading the way in the emirate’s smart revolution, the transport authority is at the forefront of innovation, leveraging cutting-edge technology, automation, and a comprehensive digital transformation strategy set to continue until 2025.

In its pursuit of enhancing digital mobility, optimizing operations, ensuring financial sustainability, elevating resident satisfaction, and shaping a forward-looking future, the RTA has unveiled a diverse array of pioneering features and services aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Dubai.

These innovations encompass a range of aspects, including streamlined vehicle registration processes, parking fee management, and a host of new functionalities integrated into the Dubai taxi app.

Introducing 28 Convenient Services: Smart Kiosks By RTA

Dubai residents now have access to a wide range of services through RTA’s innovative smart kiosks. These cutting-edge kiosks offer 28 digital services around the clock, making tasks such as vehicle registration renewal, parking fee payments, and NOL card recharging a breeze.

The services cover areas such as vehicle licensing, driver services, parking, and revenue management, providing a comprehensive solution for residents. Payment options are versatile, including cash, credit cards, and NFC technology.

Designed for utmost convenience and accessibility, RTA has deployed 32 modern kiosks, ensuring inclusivity for all, including individuals with disabilities. These kiosks are equipped with interactive screens, fingerprint sensors, card insertion units, NFC technology, and manual card entry keypads, offering a user-friendly experience for all users.

Exciting Features Of The Dubai Taxi App

The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has unveiled an array of new features in their upgraded app, available around the clock. These enhancements are set to benefit residents, tourists, and businesses alike, including hotels, tour operators, and airlines.

  • Hourly Rental Service

DTC now offers an ‘Hourly Rental’ limo service, perfect for passengers who wish to book a limousine without specifying a destination in advance. This service allows passengers to make multiple stops along the way, offering flexibility and convenience for various travel needs.

  • Lost And Found Service

The DTC app includes a ‘Lost and Found Service’ that facilitates the recovery of lost items. Passengers can communicate directly with the driver or utilize the app’s ‘Lost Item Request’ feature to initiate the process of reclaiming their belongings.

  • Meet Me Here Service

To simplify meet-ups, the app offers the ‘Meet Me Here’ service. Users can share their exact location with friends, making it effortless to rendezvous at designated meeting points.

  • Share My Trip Status Service

The ‘Share My Trip Status’ service enables users to share comprehensive trip details, including routes and estimated arrival times, with family and friends. This feature enhances transparency and ensures that loved ones are informed about the traveler’s progress throughout the journey.

  • Nol Pay App Upgrade

The RTA has unveiled an upgraded version of the Nol Pay app, equipped with four innovative features. Nol cards can now be used for various purposes, including RTA public transport fares, public parking payments, admission to tourist attractions, and even shopping.

The new features include instant balance top-ups across all platforms, simplified and personalized NOL card applications or renewals through RTA account integration, user-friendly registration for unidentified NOL cards using digital IDs, and the ability to track application status seamlessly.

  • Mobile Eye Testing Service

As part of the ‘Click and Drive’ initiative for driver’s license applicants, the RTA has digitalized the entire process, introducing a pioneering mobile eyesight testing service in the region.

This digital transformation has significantly reduced service delivery time by 75%, bringing it down from 20 to just 5 minutes, and streamlined the process from 12 to 7 steps. Consequently, customer visits to driving institutes have seen a remarkable 53% decrease.

  • Digitized Free Parking Permits:

The RTA has introduced a digitized free parking permit service for senior Emiratis and individuals with determination. This eliminates the need for permit holders to print and display physical permits. Notably, the smart permit allows users to register up to 5 vehicles on a single permit, comprising one primary vehicle and four secondary vehicles. While only one vehicle can be activated at a time, this feature provides added flexibility and convenience through the RTA Dubai App and website.

Unified Booking For All Modes Of Transport:

The RTA has ambitious plans to streamline booking and ticketing for all transportation modes in the city within the next few years. Anticipated for launch in 2023-24, this initiative aims to introduce unified ticketing that encompasses both RTA and non-RTA services.

Currently, various transport options are provided by different providers, including Careem, Udrive, Uber, ekar, and Hala. The RTA’s vision is to establish unified regulations during this period, fostering seamless transportation services throughout Dubai.
