Highlights of the UAE Cabinet Meeting – Approved National Sports Strategy 2031.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president, prime minister, and ruler of Dubai, presided at the most recent UAE Cabinet meeting in Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. In the proper presence of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.

When His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid talked about fighting drug trafficking and approving the National Sports Strategy 2031.

The National Council Against Drugs

In the recent UAE Cabinet meeting, A Council against Drugs was formed. The council is liable to come up with strategized plans for combating drug controls. The council is responsible for developing strategies pertaining to controlling and preventing drug consumption. They even have to make provisions for treatments related to psyche and medical ailments.

While making the comments, he said, on the lines of the council reducing drug trafficking, international cooperation enhancement, and building up cooperation among ministries. He even added, that all the provisions would be made for providing medical support to the addicts.

The council formed, looks into the matters of reducing illegal drug trafficking by laying down the relevant plans and policies for collecting and smuggling drugs at the UAE Borders.

The council so formed will be working on fostering international cooperation and reaching out to the global stakeholders and institutions of the drug portfolio. They will also look into the existing legislative framework and propose all the necessary amendments to the Council of Ministers.

The UAE National Sports Strategy 2031

During the meeting, the UAE national sports strategy was also approved. It is the first extensive national strategy that helps in modulating the framework for the betterment of
the community’s well-being. The main focus of the strategy is to motivate people to exercise more. In order to observe more people taking part in multiple sports

The strategy has come up with 17 initiatives in the few years and looks forward to achieving a number of goals which include the development of skills of sports professionals, discovering new athletes in schools, making reforms in the method of teaching sports and the laws of the sport, To boost the number of persons participating in various sports to 71%.

Building the Market for Energy Service Providers

During the meeting, a policy for restructuring the market was adopted. The policy looks forward to integrating the mechanisms of carrying out trade, financing, and partnerships with the private sector. The policy aims at elucidating the contractual framework between all parties and mechanisms.

Moreover, the policy will motivate the private sector companies to invest funds in government projects with a focus on the reduction of energy and water usage in government buildings, a contribution of 5 % in renewable energy, a 5-10% increase in building sustainability, a drop of about 51% in the building sector by 2050.

Adoption of resolution including the approval of the terms “ UAE Customs/ United Arab Emirates Customs”, in Gulf, regional, and international engagements. In the meeting, the dictums relating to the regulations relating to the non-automatic weighing instruments, and the axle weights of vehicles in the country were also adopted.

The meeting discussed the follow-up on hosting the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) in the UAE, from 20 November and 15 December 2023. The conference is all set to spectate more than 4000 participants from over 193 countries. The conference will take place under the philanthropy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed.

In the E-Government development index, UAE was shifted to 13th place globally. In the mobile median download speed index in 2022, UAE was ranked first.

An agreement regarding the establishment of the office of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)in the country was approved by the UAE Government.

Some reports and achievements were also given attention for the year 2022. The agreement with the Solomon Islands Government was also approved.
