UAE Cabinet Greenlights National Youth Agenda for 2031

The leader of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, led a meeting of the UAE Cabinet in Abu Dhabi. He was joined by other high-ranking officials. In the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed announced the approval of a plan called the National Youth Agenda 2031. This plan aims to help young people in five main areas: making money, improving skills, strengthening national identity, giving back to society, and representing the UAE globally. They also agreed on a new way to rate colleges and universities to make sure they’re good quality and transparent. Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the UAE is committed to helping young people, protecting the environment, using global technology, and making higher education better for everyone’s future.

UAE Cabinet: National Youth Agenda 2031

The Cabinet has given the thumbs up to the National Youth Agenda 2031. Its goal is to make young Emiratis stand out as leaders in the region and the world, helping them play a bigger part in making the country better economically and socially. The Agenda focuses on five main things: helping young people do well in their jobs, getting them involved in their communities while sticking to UAE’s values, making a positive impact globally, making sure they’re good with technology, and keeping them healthy and happy. The plan aims to pick more than 100 young Emiratis to represent the country in global events, give them good career options, and improve the UAE’s ranking for how good life is for young people.

Also, the plan makes it a top priority to focus on what it means to be Emirati, making it easier for young people to get important services. It aims to double the number of projects for young people in areas that look promising for the future, and it wants to improve the kinds of education and job training young people get so they’re ready for the skills and jobs that will be needed. The plan also includes starting a special set of guidelines called the National Charter for Youth and giving awards to young people who do really well.

Emiratis with 3 Years of Private Sector Experience Get Priority in Government Jobs

The Cabinet agreed to give people who have worked in private companies for at least three years first dibs on jobs in the federal government. This is to bring in skills from the private sector, making the government more diverse, effective, and innovative. By listening to what people have learned in private jobs, the government hopes to share more knowledge among its different departments, making them work better.

Scholarships in Federal Government Colleges

The Cabinet looked at a new way to fund colleges run by the government. They want to use scholarships to make education better in these colleges and make sure students are learning things that will help them get jobs. The new system works by giving out scholarships after figuring out how many new spots are needed in colleges and what subjects are important for jobs. They have a plan already set up to decide who gets these scholarships.

The National Structure for Higher Education Institution Categorization

The Cabinet said yes to a plan to organize colleges and universities in the UAE. This plan covers both government-run and private colleges. They will judge and group these institutions based on how well they do in four main areas: teaching quality and student experience, how well their graduates fit into jobs, how much research they do, and how much they collaborate with other countries.

They divide colleges into two big groups: ones that focus on research and ones that don’t. Then, each group gets split into four levels. The goal is to make colleges better, encourage good teaching methods, and make college life better for students.

Achievements in the UAE Space Industry

The Cabinet looked at what the UAE Space Agency did in 2023. They pointed out some big achievements like setting up five special zones to help small space-related businesses. They also launched a satellite program called “Sirb” and made a group of space companies in the country. Plus, they sent a mission to Venus and the asteroid belt, making the UAE the fourth country to do this. They started programs to tackle climate change and food problems using space tech, and they set up a project to help the country’s space programs and people working in space. A survey in 2022 showed that the UAE spent more money on space stuff, especially on exploring space and doing research.

A Manual for Regulating the Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Government Operations

The Cabinet approved a detailed set of rules and advice for using artificial intelligence (AI) in a fair way in the UAE government. This guide is meant to make sure everyone in different fields like education, healthcare, and media uses AI responsibly to make the government work better. Some important rules include making sure there’s enough data, having rules for how to use AI, working with others, respecting people’s rights, being ethical when collecting data, being sustainable, and fighting fake news by having rules that look at how risky something is.

Additionally, the Cabinet decided to create a new job called “Chief Executive Officer for Artificial Intelligence” in different government departments. Their job is to lead the planning of how to use artificial intelligence (AI) in smart ways, encourage everyone to do things the best way, and make sure AI is used properly and fairly. This move aims to encourage new ideas and businesses in the digital world and to help people become good at using AI, keeping the UAE ahead in technology.

Control of Sales Calls

The Cabinet approved rules to control marketing calls (cold calling) to protect people’s privacy. These rules include how companies can make these calls, what they need to do to follow the rules, and what happens if they break them. They also made it easier for different government groups to work together to make sure these rules are followed.

Additionally, they made rules to check the amounts of products in packages before they’re sold, to make sure things are fair for consumers. Other decisions included rules for things like virtual money, centers that teach about the Quran, trips for Islamic pilgrimages, and services provided by government groups like the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security. The Cabinet also made sure people from other Gulf countries working in the UAE have insurance coverage, and they set up rules to help students manage both school and work.

National Statistics Committee

The Cabinet approved setting up the National Statistics Committee to make sure data is accurate and reliable. They also agreed to deals with India to encourage investment and with South Korea for a big economic partnership. The UAE will hold some important conferences, like the UAE University Annual International Law Conference and the Cryptocurrency Research Conference 2024. The Cabinet also looked at how well they did hosting a big meeting for the World Trade Organization, which had lots of important people attending.
