UAE Launches ‘Nafis Award’ to Honor Private Sector Formations Excelling in Emiratization

His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness council has inaugurated the first cycle of the ‘Nafis Award’ for the year 2022 – 2023. 

The award targets to recognize private industry formations that have excelled in appointing UAE citizens and fostered positive competition within the sector of Emiratization. The award even targets to identify excellent Emiratis in the private industry. 

The Nafis Award has been presented a year after the inauguration of the Nafis schedule, which was started as part of the Projects of the 50, to be a driving force for the evolvement of the country’s economy. 

At the event, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed stressed the significance of the part played by Nafis throughout the first year of its inauguration in showing the advantages of performing in the private industry while motivating UAE citizens to look for expert prospects within private formations. 

It has supported powering their existence as an influential workforce along with the modernity of this important industry and improving its part in progressing the economic evolvement of the country. 

He also affirmed that the country’s government is eager to get the set targets of Emiratization in the private industry and execute the leadership’s directives by honoring formations that have gained Emiratization goals, along with differentiating Emirate skills in the private industry. 

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, said – “The award shows the country administration’s support for the success of Emiratization guidelines and another move ahead to increase the Emiratization efforts in the private industry. The involvement of the private industry with Nafis and Emiratization file is crucial for the evolvement journey of the country.” 

“The award would inspire corporations to enhance Emiratization ratio, and on the flip side, this motivates UAE citizens to connect with private industry and enhance their talents and competence and support to consolidating the country economy.” 

Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, showed that the ‘Nafis Award’ sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, would show successful experiences in three major classifications that align with the administration’s aspirations and support to the country’s efforts in strengthening Emirati skill to fill job postings in the different industries and private industries. 

“This award is a gratitude for the private industry’s amazing efforts in getting the Emiratization goals. This, in turn, makes citizens capable to flourish and support to getting economic development. The award even shows the successful experiences of the country citizens performing in the private industry, who were capable to prove themselves as a crucial and useful force, able to get about positive modification in different economic industries”. 

AWARD CATEGORIES 

In cooperation with Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program, the council has made sure that the award classes, criteria, and assessment tools are in line with government directives and global finest methods. This move would assure governance over the assessment procedure, encourage the thoughts of institutional and individual superiority when it comes to the Emiratization ruling, and increase the performance of citizens within the different sectors of the private industry. 

Consequently, the award would comprise 3 major classifications: The first class aims at private corporations, the second aims at people, and the 3rd targets the methodic partners of the Emirati skill Competitiveness Council. 

The first class comprises private corporations registered on the Nafis forum that have gained Emiratization targets as per the following sub-classes: big-sized corporations of one thousand workers and more; Medium-sized corporations of 500-999 workers and small-sized corporations of less than 499 workers. 

The mechanism for choosing the winning corporations would be completely automated through the activity management method, which would be depending on the ratio of Emiratization targets gained as per the criteria set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, Corporations aren’t needed to present any documents or fill out apps for nomination. 

The 2nd category, aiming people, comprises the following specialized classes: medical, legal, nursing, financial, programming, administrative, retail, leadership, professional jobs, and trainees registered in Nafis’ Apprentice Schedule. 

All Emirati private industry workers are welcome to take part through the website, where they can fill out the nomination by a jury approved by the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program. The criteria for choosing the winners have been decided around three major aspects: performance and continuous learning, transformation, positive citizenship, and consequence and accomplishments. 

The 3rd category, aiming at the methodic partners, would identify the government and semi-government of the council partners, in gratitude for their efforts and supports in getting the vision of the council related to Emiratization. The outcomes of the award would be declared throughout the first quarter of 2023.
