UAE Petrol Prices to See Small Drop in January

The lowest petrol rates in the Emirates in the last two months of the forbidding year are raising expectations for a small drop in the revised petrol rates that will be announced on January 1, 2025. This year the petrol prices that were at their peak in May gradually declined and became the lowest in this year’s last month.

The revision in petrol and diesel prices at the end of every month in the Emirates was started in 2015 when the country’s government established a fuel price committee to review fuel prices against international standards before implementing them in the country. This new policy linked fuel prices to global prices and deregulated them on August 1 in the same year this committee was established with a primary vision of sustainable development, encouraging the use of public transportation, and impelling the use of alternative fuels.

Expected Drop in UAE Fuel Prices in January 2025

The major benchmarks in the global oil industry, WTI and Brent, with prices of $70.65 and $74 per barrel on Monday morning, showcased steady trading of oil worldwide.

A statement from Ipek Ozkardeskya, a senior analyst at Swissquote Bank, has made a major headline, which said that the crude will end the year in the bearish consolidation zone as it is expecting China to mitigate the global supply glut to average 1 million barrels per day in the upcoming year.

Another statement made by Maria Agustina Patti, the financial markets strategist consultant to Exness, is that the prediction of abundant oil supply in the upcoming year and signs of softer demand from China can lead to a stabilized oil future with limiting substantial upside possibilities.

For the past eight years, fuel prices have been revised every month since the formation of the fuel price committee and the government will announce the fuel rates for the first month of 2025 on January 1. Fuel prices significantly affect diverse industries and lifestyles of residents in the UAE, as they are key factors that impact logistics, inflation, and living costs.
