UAE Weather Alert: Rain in Dubai & Abu Dhabi, Police Advise Caution

Dubai: The Dubai Police Authority has advised residents to be cautious, especially while riding two-wheelers, after an accidental case occurred at Sheikh Zayed bin Road on January 03, 2025. Residents of the city woke up to the chilliest, rain-soaked, and frosty Friday morning yesterday with the lowest temperature recorded in the country this winter. 

The National Center of Meteorology had forecasted weather warnings featuring high wind speeds of up to 40 kph until 8 am on Friday. Yesterday, the department recorded a temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius at Jebel Jais, RAK, which is the lowest recorded temperature in this winter season in the Emirates. 

Accident on Frosty and Rain-Soaked Friday

In addition to being the day on which the lowest temperature of this winter season was recorded in the UAE, the frosty Friday featured light to moderate rain showers at many prominent locations in Dubai, including Jumeirah, Al Jaddaf, Umm Suqeim, and Al Safa. 

The stormy winds and slippery roads due to rain showers caused the accident in the city of skyscrapers on January 03. The confirmation of the accident was done by the Dubai Police Authority through a Twitter post. This post confirmed that an accident occurred on Sheikh Zayed bin Road opposite Global Village in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

Police Advised Caution to Motorists on Roads

After the tragic event that happened yesterday opposite Global Village, the police have advised residents, especially motorists, to drive safely while remaining cautious. The next five days’ weather forecast by NCM is still predicting the chances of rainy and stormy wind conditions, which might cause the occurrence of such tragic happenings again. 

Possibilities of partly sunny and cloudy skies, misty and chilly mornings, and violent winds are expected in the Emirates, according to NCM’s weather forecast. The nation’s meteorological department and Dubai’s police authority have advised motorists to follow the specific rules, including driving at lower speeds, riding vehicles with working windshield wipers, using low-beam headlights, etc., to keep themselves secure from any hazard or accident.
