The latest launched initiative by Dubai RTA introduces a system attached to electric bicycles that by using modern cameras and sensors developed using high-end technology that will enable tracks’ accurate analysis and performance evaluation without causing any disruption to users’ movement. The key standards for safety and convenience associated with sustainable urban mobility user experience are ensured through this system, providing quick and extensive monitoring.
As the newly launched system supports proactive track evaluation, predictive and sustainable maintenance, resource management effectiveness, and environmental and financial sustainability are improved, as operating expenses and emergency maintenance needs are reduced. The initiative encompasses several global progressive standards, including the Ride Comfort Index, Track Asset Condition Index, and others, achieving a major advancement over traditional methods that in the past only utilized the Track Pavement Condition Index.
Dubai’s Future of Urban Transportation
A progressive advancement in track monitoring has been achieved by Dubai’s AI-powered monitoring system that can access 120 km of cycling tracks within 4 hours. It is more advanced and efficient than the previous methods as they can only cover 2.25 km in a day, which means a stellar speed improvement of 98% is marked by this innovative system.
Additionally, the system has surpassed the previous methods in terms of extensive analysis and evaluation of track conditions and assets by 92%, as it can cover 557 km of tracks within a month. The strategy planning for preventive maintenance and asset management has improved through this system, enabling quicker decision-making.
