Dubai Turns Into a Fitness Hub: Cycling on Sheikh Zayed Road to Marathon Week!

Dubai: The 9th edition of DFC (Dubai Fitness Challenge)launched by the UAE’s DPM and MoD, Dubai’s Crown Prince, and Chairman of the Exec. Council, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will begin on November 1, 2025. 

Under the theme Find Your Challenge, this year’s DFC encourages residents and visitors to take on the goal of staying active for 30 minutes a day over 30 days. This celebration will run until November 30 and will turn the glamorous city of skyscrapers into a lively fitness hub with a wide range of free fitness events and wellness sessions. This year, the DFC edition aims to make staying active fun, accessible, and inspiring for everyone. Residents and visitors of all ages can enjoy four flagship mass events, three major Fitness Villages, and more than 25 community hubs within the city. 

DFC 2025: A Citywide Movement for a Healthier Dubai

Dubai Sports Council Secretary General, His Excellency Saeed Hareb, said that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched this DFC challenge, 30 minutes of activity for 30 days, with a simple yet powerful idea. He added that today this idea has grown into a citywide movement that has changed how Dubai views health and fitness. Sharing his views on the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Hareb said:

  • Hareb explained that its success is not only about how many people join, but also about how many lives are positively impacted. 
  • He said families are walking together, workplaces are promoting wellness through various programs, and communities are becoming more active. This kind of change shows how fitness can become part of daily life. 
  • He added that this Challenge has helped Dubai secure a place on the global fitness map. He also said that through the support of digital platforms, everyone can take part in them. 
  • Hareb also said that their goal is to make Dubai a global hub for sport and active living, ensuring a high-quality life for everyone.

Four Flagship Events During DFC 2025

DFRE’s CEO, Ahmed Al Khaja, said that this year’s theme, Find Your Challenge, truly reflects the purpose of the DFC. The theme encourages everyone to take part in activities that match their fitness levels and interests. He added that this month-long event will bring people together through movement. Moreover, it will help in building stronger connections and adopting healthier lifestyles. He further said that DFC represents their shared goal of making Dubai the most active, connected, and best city to work in, reside in, and visit. It’s an inspiring example of how community-driven initiatives can create transformation much like the best startup story that begins with a simple idea and grows into a global movement. Here is the complete information about DFC 2025 major events and activities:

1. Dubai Ride: A DP World Presentation (November 2)

DFC 2025 will start with the Dubai Ride on November 2. Thousands of cyclists will take over Sheikh Zayed Road early in the morning at 6:15 am. Riders can either join a 4 km fun route through Downtown Dubai or take on the 12 km track that passes major landmarks, like Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future.  Last year, more than 37,000 riders joined in. 2. Dubai Stand Up Paddle by RTA (November 8 & 9)

Due to a high demand, the SUP event is back this year, which will run for two full days at the stunning Hatta Dam. The third edition of this event perfectly combines fitness, fun, and nature. You need to register for free SUP sessions, kayaking, and sunset yoga sessions that will be guided by expert instructors. To make travel easy, free shuttle services from the Dubai World Trade Centre will be provided. You need to register on the Dubai Stand Up Paddle website.

3. Dubai Run by Mai Dubai (November 23)

This popular event will turn SZR into the world’s largest free community fun run. Everyone can enjoy this event, which will start at 6:30 am. Participants can choose between two routes: a 10 km route for experienced runners that will end at the DIFC Gate Building and a 5 km route that will finish near the Dubai Mall. Last year, more than 278,000 participated in this event. It is expected that more runners will take part and make history once again. 

4. Dubai Yoga (November 30)

DFC 2025 will end with a new flagship event, Dubai Yoga. As the sun sets, thousands of yoga lovers will gather at Zabeel Park on the final day for a massive outdoor session. There will be special zones for families and women that will make sure everyone enjoys this session comfortably. This will be a celebration of the city’s commitment to healthier living and the positive habits that people will build in this month-long fitness celebration. 

Beyond these flagship events, DFC 2025 will also feature three vibrant Fitness Villages and over 25 Community Fitness Hubs. Each venue will host free classes, workshops, and wellness programs for everyone. 

More Details on Dubai Ride 2025

1. Event Timings & Key Details

Dubai Ride 2025 will start at 6:15, and the time for the gates closing is 7:30 am. The roads will reopen to traffic after 8:15 am. This event will transform SZR into a car-free cycling track for participants of all ages. Even marshals will be available to guide and help participants secure an unforgettable experience.

2. Dubai Ride Speed Laps for Advanced Cyclists

You can take part in a 12 km route from the Dubai World Trade Centre to Safa Park and back. This option is only good for early risers, as this session will run from 5 am to 6 am. It is advised that only experienced cyclists should take part in this session, as they have to use road bikes with a minimum average speed of 30 km per hour. The starting point for this route is Gate A at the Museum of the Future. All the participants of Speed Laps can collect their bibs at the Zabeel Park Fitness Village before the event.

3. Free Bike Rentals by Careem

This year, Careem Bike is offering free bike rental services to all Dubai Ride participants. They can benefit from this service from 3 am to 8 am on November 2. They need to simply enter the promo code DR25 in the Careem app under the Bike section to unlock their free single-trip pass. Participants can collect their bikes from stations near the Museum of the Future, Lower Financial Centre Street, and any of 200+ Careem Bike stations within the city. The free bike offer will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
